Here's a painting I did today for the 30 Paintings in 30 Days. It's acrylic / mixed media on illustration board. I'll probably stick it in my Etsy shop after a coat of varnish. I think I threw everything in this one except the kitchen sink. There's newspaper, dictionary pages, scrapbooking paper, cut outs of my digitally painted flowers, collage sheet flowers, lace doillies.... and paint! Oh, and marker and gel pens. This one is almost an 8 x 10.
She's sort of scary. That wasn't intentional. Maybe I was feeling sour today.
I'm not sure I'm going to be able to manage the complete 30 paintings in 30 days as I also have to do my regular work during the day and I find traditional painting to be much more intensive than drawing or even digital painting. I'll see how it goes. I might end up with only 20... or even 10 :)
At left is a life drawing from yesterday's session. I love this model. He sits so still and he comes up with the most wonderful poses. This is colored pencil on kraft paper. My usual. I need to shake it up a bit one day, maybe break out the charcoal or attempt pastels again (that was ugly).
looks great happy new year
ReplyDeleteYour painting is gorgeous and your life drawing so beautiful... I wanted to do the 30 paintings challenge, but I'm too slow. My boyfriend does digital art and he's a lot faster then I am! Maybe some of your paintings could be digital paintings? I don't remember any rule stating that they all have to be traditional, but I'm not sure, I didn't check very closely... Regardless, I love this painting!
ReplyDeleteI think posting your digital paintings would be fine. We all create differently. I do love the mixed media though. I am really interested in how you used your digital images in the image.
DeleteI just print my digital paintings, cut out the parts I want and glue to mixed media piece. I guess I use my digital paintings sort of like a collage sheet :)
DeleteI love your sketches!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it, I am sure I have seen some digital art on Leslies challenge, go for it. I have seen some journal pages too.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!! Your painting is so spring like and has such a pop of color .....makes me long for summer while I am freezing my ass off here in Baltimore!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and PPF! Wow, your ladies are just awesome! I always enjoy looking at your paintings. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI think this model had a similar pose over the back of a chair not too long ago! He's really cool! Lovely, colorful portrait, too. She looks like she has a strong personality!
ReplyDeleteGood eye, Cindy! Yes, it was the same guy, very similar pose too. Good job he has a clean bum :)
DeleteI'm pretty good at reading people I don't think she looks scary....she looks cautious to me...she is very cautious....I think she is really intuitive and something has her contemplating her decisions!! At least that's what I see....she is so gorgeous...love the headdress!

Your painting is amazing! I love all the different mediums you have incorporated into the flowers. She does look a little stern but I doubt its because she's seen someone wearing the same hat!! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy 2014 Sal!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous artwork!

To make this in a day! - fabulous. I don't think she looks scary, if anything she looks frightened. She's certainly got a personality.
